hello dw,

the print engine in opus is still based on bitmaps, a big request for me is a full vector / true type font engine for printing from an opus publication.

currently if you want to print good quality from an opus publication you need to set the page size 2480 x 3508 pixels and have all the objects scaled to that size.

a better engine would add many benefits to opus developers especially the ability to print reports from an opus publication. one of the best uses of opus is for developing frontends to access databases. improving the print engine would make printing anything from invoices, receipts to sales records much better and easier to implement.

also currently all jobs sent to the printer are called opus, would it be possible to use the name of the publication instead.

keep up the good work lads,

luke

It's a lot better than the Director print engine.
Printing is one of those things that is more difficult to implement than it looks.

cheers
Paul

I think that would be a really good addition. I can understand why its bitmap based though... its not a vector or postscript tool at its core.

I agree that maybe the export res could be better - but surely its partly limited by the graphics within the presentation itself. Opus is a multimedia tool not a print layout tool DTP tool and so graphics are optimised for screen rather than print, fast load times etc...

The print wizard could be improved though I feel
