Will Opus and your other products work, in Windows Vista? (codename Longhorn) or will we have to purchase another copy next year when Vista 2006 is out?

Phil.

Vista is just XP with a few graphical knobs on - there should be no reason for Opus to function any differently under it than any previous version of Windows.

We may well have Opus 06 versions out as part of our normal upgrade cycle, however no one forces you to buy them!

Hey,

Microsoft have said that DirectX 10 won't be fully backward compatible with version 7/8/9 and will emulate older games, which will be slower.

"The DirectX 10 API will have completely new and faster dynamic link libraries (DLLs) and is supposed to run much faster. The company decided to cut the backward compatibility with DirectX 9, 8, 7 and lower in this API but there will be a way to use games programmed for those APIs. Microsoft will enable support for DX 9 or lower games through a software layer, meaning it might run slower."

Will future versions of Opus be compatible with DirectX 10. And how will current publications run under an emulated DirectX environment.

Joe

The elements of DirectX that Opus uses are long established and unlikely to be affected by any changes - the new stuff is always for the latest 3D graphics and sound; not the 2D graphical acceleration we use.
