Opus: Evolution
You're on a roll!

I should point out that some of the points / ideas you're suggesting are already under discussion in the closed evolution thread BUT I do think it's worth suggesting them here as well. I suppose it a difficult decision to make where to go with a product in light of the changes in hardware and software system in the recent times. With no clear idea about what will happen do you risk it or wait it out to see if a path appears.

I'm a huge fan of Opus as a platform for multimedia development on the PC but all the points you raise are the same things I've been discussing with our clients for a while now and time and time again they want a one glove fits all solution. The idea of a separate Opus Flex Builder to steal a name is a decent dream for the one glove fits pretty much everything - wake up Apple - give us Flash back! Adobe are coming at it from a different direction - rapidly blurring the line between designer and developer with interoperability of Flash Builder & Catalyst not to mention their other tools.

IMHO, neither Adobe tool yet works well enough to produce the kind of content that Opus excels at but one day either Adobe will improve the simplicity / development time with their applications or somebody will write a program that sits happily in the place. It may be Opus Flex Builder - I wouldn't care to speculate. Though if I was to bet, it would be that HTML5 is not going to kill plug-ins.
