When I create an image, it's automatically called image_xxx

I love the rename function, but it'd be much better if it left the "image_" etc part before renaming.

I appreciate that I could name my image files image_001 etc in the first place... but it'd also work better for, say, text.

The more clearly everything is labelled, the fasetr I can work!

Hi Linda,

I believe the QuickBuild > Rename function already provides the option to use a fixed string of your choice as the start of the object name. Simply select a group of image objects, then click QuickBuild > Multiple Objects > Rename. You should now see two fields named 'New Name' and 'Add number, starting at'.

The 'New Name' field allows you to specify the static, first part of the object name, so if you want all of the renamed objects to begin with 'Image_', simply type this into the 'New Name' field.

The 'Add number, starting at' field allows you to add an incremental value to the end of each object name.

For example, if you are renaming five selected object and set the 'New Name' field to 'Image_' and the 'Add number' field to '1', you will end up with five objects named:

Image_1
Image_2
Image_3
Image_4
Image_5

If you set the 'New Name' field to 'Image ' (with a space), the objects will be named:

Image 1
Image 2
Image 3
Image 4
Image 5

...which matches Opus' default naming scheme.

Kind regards,

On the subject of the quickbuild rename, which I've been using more and more.

An option to append/prefix the automatically generated name with the type of object would be nice.

It would also be useful to be able to rename text input boxes based on the variable associated with them. Creating forms for example, you can rename all the labels in one go, to something meaningful, but not the input boxes.

Nice ideas. We will look into the possibility of including these in a future update. It is not possible for an object to share exactly the same name as a variable (this causes the variable to be enumerated to [ILMObject]), but it should be possible to rename the objects in the format '<variable> input' or '<variable> image'.

Thank you for your feedback.

Regards,

Yes, that was exactly what I was trying to say... your explanation is far clearer, I think!
