I realise that Opus isn't a word processor, but text handling in text boxes is pretty poor, I think....

Single apostrophe quotes are regarded as an error by the spell checker.

The insert marker can get totally out of position to the actual insert point if more than simple editing is carried out within a text box.

Emphasis features seem to relate to position within the box - so after deleting a paragraph that may have had some words emboldened, when typing in a new paragraph, words can suddenly appear bold whilst typing.

Many of the updates and enhancements included in the two Service Releases for Opus Pro 04 have involved issue with in-place text editing and bullet points and we are keen to iron out any remaining problems with text entry.

Do you have a series of steps which we could use to replicate these issues? If we can replicate the issues in-house, we should be able to formulate a solution or workaround and ensure that these problems are resolved in the next update.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Single apostrophes round a word or words 'like this' cause the spell checker to think the word 'like is spelled incorrectly. That happens without fail.

Problems most often (invariably) occur with the insert point not tallying with the insert marker when a mid paragraph is deleted and replaced with other text of a different size - either smaller, or more often, larger.

Thus, to create:

Create a text box - tall and oblong-ish in shape, say.

Type in a heading at say 16 point and a couple of paragraphs of text at, say, 12 point.
Highlight, and change the paragrpah line spacing to be exactly 12 point**.
Continue typing, say, two more paragrphs with the same formatting.
Go back to the second paragraph and highlight some words and turn them to bold. Then delete the second paragraph.
Start to type in a new paragraph ... at this point, for me, invariably the insert marker has now started to be distant from the actual typing point. Also, where words were bold before, new typing in the samew place picks up the enbolding formatting.
A few more changes and corrections - change the text box heading size, for example, and the insert point and the insert marker can be as far out as three or four rows.

Hope that enables you to reproduce the sort of problems I'm seeing here.
I had the idea of creating text externally - in notepad, eg, and copy pasting it - but invariably I need to edit, add, change, and that's where things go wonky.

Otherwise, and in any event, I wouldn't dream of using any other product. I haven't fully explored the power of Opus (4.2) yet - still to learn the scripting language for even better results!

(As an aside - I am having problems with multiple videos on a page - each introduced as called up by the user: sometimes two open at the same time when one is called - and yes, I have tried 'On Top', 'Chroma' with and without overlay. I'm sure it is the way I am implementing the selection, display and playback (controlled by user) of the videos. Which is why I need to learn scripting ... later ... )

** Added later - I truly believe this is where the problem originates - changing the line spacing to something other than the conventional 'Single' or perhaps 'double'. I like tight text, so close it up a litlle - I think the convention is to line space at point size plus one or two points (percentage) of the original size. Added points before/after paragraphs couyld also upset the insert marker position, I think.

I have looked at this and it should be fixed in a future release.

I have recreated the other problem with exactly 12pt spacing and will look into it.

Thanks Tony. It can only help to make a great product even greater.

(BTW - any change in line spacing etc will cause the problem - 12pt was just an example).
