Post subject:  Opus Creator 6

Am trying out an evaluation version of Creator and am giving serious thought to purchase but I do have a couple of issues with the program. First i should say I am running Vista64 on a dual core Pentium with 4G of Memory.
During the installation I got an error message and the installation did not close out properly(and this may explain the other problem I am having). I have attached a screencap of the error. I have lots of disk space bTW.
The program seems to run okay despite the installation issue, but I do have a issue with fonts. I have four or five pages in a chapter. Each one had a title, written on the page with the add text button. However, when i added a new page the font I thought I had been using displayed too large and with a diferent typeface. I chose another font to match what i wanted but when I did a preview of the whole project all the text I had added was all screwed up, different fonts and sizes displayed(except for text I had added using import text this was fine). I made several attempts to get this working, tried just using bog-standard fonts like Arial with the same results. So I gave up, used images instead, used import text to add captions. Apart from these two items i like the software.

JM,

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy and find great productivity with Creator.

I suspect the problem you mention is in part related to Vista's way of doing things. My recommendation is that you email Support folks at digital workshop. If possible, do that from within Creator program >>> Help Menu, as that will send them your system particulars.

You might also try using the Search feature of this forum (for example, 'ocx' OR 'occache' terms.) Some basic things that apply to Opus product might apply to Creator.

When I first got over to Vista32, I had some problems. Most likely related to the way I set up user logons and user types. You may know it's best to install programs either being an Administrator, or doing the Right-click and "Run as administrator" routine.

Now that there is a problem with the product installation, I would rely on DW's tech support advice.

Hi Lar, thanks for the information. Actually I sent two emails to the Support address with no response which is why I was posting on here. However the second one I only sent recently, the first just after I installed. I will try that search. Thanks again.

Hi Michael - no I have not solved the problem. I purchased the full version and had the same issue. And when I was first using the product I ran into problems with fonts(or one particular font, I'm not sure). I have avoided using the font and for the past few weeks I have had no problems, program runs fine, programs created with Opus also run fine. Support didn't get back to me on this - they did get back to me on the font problem(they asked me to send them a copy of the font) but I have heard nothing more. I wouldn't recommend their support to anyone, which is a pity as the program is great and I'm glad I purchased it.
Sorry I can't offer anything more (the font I had trouble with was called Colonial Light)

HI John,

you lucky one!
View month ago i tried the trial and it worked great, so two days ago i purchased it and the same error message like yours appeared shortly before my intallation is complete - so i cannot run Creator because the intallation process is not completed...

I do not know what to do, have also contacted the support, but if there is no reaction i want my money back, but i like this program from the days i worked on former times with it...

Hope that there is a way to work with Creator.

Michael
