Hi All,

I am attempting to make screen video captures of OPUS to assist in teaching a senior multimedia course.

Any screen video capture software I use causes OPUS to have an "unknown exception" error.

Does anyone:
1. Make screen video captures of OPUS
2. Know how to fix this problem, or what might be causing it.

I (and mu students) would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Welcome to the DW and Opus playpen, Rob.

I don't use video tools/methods much, but can offer these ideas:
* if it's a system or compatibility problem, folks here will have a better idea of what to look for or to try if you provide some details about your system, Creator version, and other tools/software involved. Also, if there are Creator pub-type options, let us know that (in OpusPro there's several)

* for the basics, I've read of people using Creator/Opus' internal features to Record and Play a free running demo. After the 'record', you have to publish and in that process make some option choices for video output. (?)

* others mention using Camtasia. Suggest you search the forum for that to get some ideas. (be logged in, you'll see attachments if any). You could also Google search or CNET downloads search for similar tools, less expensive than Camtasia.



Just not enough info to go on.

Some minor issues come up when you Preview vs. fully Publish in Opus/Creator apps... and vice versa. So try both modes Prev./publish.

Might I suggest you ue a program called "fraps" - I have been a ble to create some nice projects using "fraps".

Simply start fraps, - then load Opus, then start the project ( note: the Opus project your wanting to be captured dosent even have to be actually published...this can be GREAT for last minute changes.) - either way, fraps will capture the lot! with sound( if you wish. )

After your done recording, simply stop fraps, and save what you captured. ( the default is .avi format )

Then its a simple case of closing Opus, and loading the saved FRAPS avi into your favourite video editor, and editing out the parts you dont want ( like the capture of opus starting etc ).

Finally, when your happy with your project ( now that its been captured and editied,) - render it to your favourite format and put it on a CD or DVD.

Althought the program "Fraps" is INTENDED to run as a way to capture PC video games in high quality, it does just as well at Opus ( atleast it does with Versions 2.81 and Opus 6.0

Very "crisp" results. -( depending on the grunt of your video card that is. )
