I can not make the DVD publishing process work. I use the correct blank publication and follow the help directions (To create a DVD). I have reviewed all other DVD topics. The process stops before I write. Comparing the files Opus saves with a DVD created elsewhere, I noticed that VIDEO_TS.VOB is missing. My presentation is 110 pages in length and uses no menus. Nothing fancy, just pages with one jpg picture per page and a simple transition. Can anyone point me in the right direction - my time is running out? Thanks

Hi Don,
I'm afraid I won't be able to help you much, because I have only tried it a couple of times, but can I suggest you create a very short version of your publication(no transition) to see if it's just a problem related to the size of the publication. When I tried it, it took an incredible amount of time, so with 110 pages it may just take so long it looks as if it has stopped??? or do you know for sure it has stopped. If you try it with something really short, it will prove the process without having to wait for hours for it to convert.

Any publication with transitions will tale a long time to convert to DVD, it has to create a video frame for each stage of the transition, so 110 pages will take a long time...try turning the transitions off.

Have you searched the forum for any other related problems.
Hopefully others with experience of DVD publication may offer some more help.

Rgds

Sandy
this may be better moved to the basic forum, or repeat it there

Sandy,
Thank you. Previously I ran a test without transitions and only 3 pages. For some reason the DVD pulishing now works. The problem now is that the published DVD will play only on a computer. I have tried it on several different DVD players (new and old); however, it does not play and simply returns an error message saying DISC ERROR. The VOB file is there, but apparently works only on a computer. I wonder if that is how the application was intended?
Don

Good to hear it works.
Sorry, can't offer any further help...I'm sure you have tried with +R and -R disks? I gave up all attempts to convert pictures to DVD, not only with Opus, but with any software, because of the time it takes, poor quality, and just not reliable. I would spend ages putting pictures on DVD, getting it working on my DVD players, only to find it wouldn't work on any other machine. I would love to find a 100% reliable method, or even better, a DVD player which would run EXE's....(probably called a PC).

It is designed to run on DVD players but with plenty of caveats according to the help file. It does work as well, although as Sandyn points out the good quality is hard to achieve.

I'd suggest publishing, and then building the ISO with a different program to isolate the problem.

Mack
