Come the Autumn I will be upgrading my main dev computer, after 4 years, I wanted to skip Vista. Waiting on Windows 7 and I will purchase a system with an Intel Core i7 CPU.

This is a 64bit CPU and comes with 64bit Windows, can DW confirm that Opus will work on a 64bit CPU and the publications will too. What type of support does Opus have for 64bit CPUs?

Also looking forward to full support of Windows 7 when released later this year.

Bye

This economy has delayed my purchase of an Intel Core i7 system by a couple of months. But interested to know if anyone has used Opus and Opus produced publications on 64bit XP, Vista and Windows 7. What were the results like.

Hi,

Using Opus 6.4 on a Core i7 64 bit machine just upgraded from Vista 64 to Windows 7 64 Home Premium.

Opus 6.4 on Win 7 is running fully and well, able to develop executable apps (haven't tried Flex or Web-based, but I suspect these will also work fully as they did on Vista 64 bit).

The only issue for EXE apps, which is the same as before, when running on Vista: if DirectX is not disabled, the display automatically changes from Aero to Basic with a Windows pop-up display to indicate this change (my solution has been to disable DirectX, occasionally use a progress bar for any slow loading).

Hope this Aero display issue gets resolved, if possible, by a patch for version 6.4 and in version 7.

All in all, Opus 6.4 looks and works great on Windows 7 Core i7 64 bit.

HTH

Kind Regards,

Opus: Pro 8

Opus 7 works properly with Aero.

I've been running Windows 7 x64 for a couple of weeks (only on a Core 2 Duo sadly), and Opus all seems to work fine.

The only slight snag is that Plexus doesn't work in the 64-bit version of IE (and neither does Flash for that matter). However in Windows 7 at least, 32-bit IE is the default so it's only a problem if you go looking for one.

Hi Stephen,

Dave's not using Opus 6. He's seems to be saying that the mode switching problem has been resolved under Opus 7.

Hi Mack,

Probably shouldn't write before my first morning coffee.

Have had a few coffee sips now and can clearly see that it is regarding Opus 7 (have now edited the earlier post).

That's great news!

Kind Regards,

Had my coffee and my brain still doesn't work :-)

Glad to hear that the OS / PC / Opus combination is nearly working perfectly though!
