Hi there,
I wonder if anybody out there can help me. I created a project in Opus Pro 3 years ago designed for CD use only. Now the client has come back to me and wants to put it on the web. I have changed the publication properties to Opus Flex and published it but when my colleague tries to put in on to the web it does not work. How do I go about it ?????
Do I need a plug-in ??
Do I need to use Opus Headstart ??
Regards
Dee

Hi Dee,

Yes, you should be able to just change the publication type to flex and republish and assuming that you have used just flex based actions - it should work.

However, Adobe changed the way flash works a while back and it stopped Opus Flex publications. DW has released an update which I think was for Opus 5/6.

Hi Mack,
Thank you for your reply.
I have downloaded the preloader zip file from the link you sent me and will give that a go.

Regards,
Dee

Your suggestion seems to have done the trick with text, graphics and audio. However, it does not publish my mpeg videos. Is there a solution ? Do I need a plug-in ????
Regards

Dee

Hi Dee,

At the moment, flex supports SWF or Gif files. If you need MPG files, you'll have to publish as Plexus web file and your users will need the DW plug-in.

Hi Dee,

Another alternative is to simply publish the file as a
Create a Web Publication
and use the Plexus plugin from DW.

Check the help pages.....

Publishing to the Internet

Using the Create a Web Publication option on the first page of the Publish Wizard allows you to publish your work on the Internet exactly as it appears on your computer. There are certain things to consider before and after you publish your Web publication, these are described below.

Optimising your publication for the internet:
1. When a Web publication is produced using the Create a Web Publication option in the Publish wizard, the publication will only work using the Plexus Plug-in.

2. Before you publish your Web publication you should consider the type of publication you are building (e.g. is it information, training, advertising or sales) and the best structure to create it in Opus (e.g. in a linear sequence of pages). How your publication is structured is important because of the way in which the Plexus Plug-in downloads information – see Optimising Web Publications for more information.

Hope this helps

Pete
