The latest version of Kaspersky 2010 comes with a free Tune Up Utilities 2009 from PX Software. The tune up utility is very good, BUT...on my system when I ran the utility, it removed entries from the registry which Opus needs to start up. I got an error "Opus cannot load the version information. Please re-install the software....."
When I reversed the changes, Opus started OK.

Opus: Opus Pro v9.75
OS: Windows 10.?
System: HP xw660 Server 32GB RAM, Toshiba Satellite Laptop
The same thing happens to me when I use Glary Utilities. I usually simply reinstall Opus and it works fine.

Paul

Does that mean Kapersky tools would wipe out Opus Pub/User runtime variables written to Registry?

No, AFAIK it only effects the version control settings for the Opus Editor.

Just to be clear, it's just the free tune up tools which come with some versions of Kaspersky 2010 which caused the problem. Kaspersky works fine with Opus. I use another clean up tool regularly and the PX Software tool found hundreds of additional entries in the registry which it claimed were invalid....but obviously they were still required. I haven't had problems with anything else, but I have since reversed all the changes and won't be using it again!
