I have installed Windows 8 developer preview and have been using it today.

Opus Publications, well they work great. No issues found yet - everything I have produced in Opus 6 or 7 work fine.

Overall I think Windows 8 is still a work in progress, some of the new features I'm not mad about, especially the removal of the Start Menu and it's replacement by titles. DW will need to look at possible options for getting Opus publications into the Windows 8 app store.

The only issue that corps up is if you're using the <SYSTEM_OPERATING_SYS> variable in your publication, as it reads as ?? under Windows 8.

I assume as this is only a very early preview of the OS that Microsoft will fix this, I assume Opus is reading this variable from the registry somewhere.

Cheers,

Need to find some time to have a play with W8 but am glad Opus works. The start menu is an interesting one. I'm in agreement with this: http://lifehacker.com/5842200/windows-8 ... lly-matter

As I've not really used the start menu for quite a few years, I doubt I'd miss it and with docks, stacks and gadgets the UI is much more fun anyway. Also, it seems that Metro can be set to load on one monitor and the desktop open on another - this could prove to be much more friendly as you can pick up tablet sized touch monitors that would work great as an additional input / screen.

Mack
