Post subject: Text To Speech (TTS)

This topic has come up before. Over recent months I have done a lot of work with Opus and TTS. I've made this post on the off-chance that other Opus users might find my recent experiences useful.

I've attached a .RTF file which goes into more detail, but briefly I can summarise them as:

1. There are many TTS programs available at reasonable prices.
2. There are many quality artificial voices available, but if you want to distribute the audio output, they are expensive - very expensive.
3. I found 30 older free voices. The attached file summaries my very subjective assessments of these.

If you are thinking of getting into TTS, you might find this a useful starting point.

The biggest plus for me in using TTS files saved as .WAV files is the greater degree of control I have over actions that I can synchronise, not only the the end of the audio, but also the actions that I might want to occur at specific times during the playing of the audio file.
