Camtasia for Free!

You can get Camtasia 3 for free presently (not sure for how long) if you go to the following site:
http://download.techsmith.com/camtasiastudio/enu/312/camtasiaf.exe

As far as I know it's a complete older version (the latest is 5). With this version you can upgrade to version 5 for US $149.

Might be worth a look.

It is currently given away in the UK in this months PC Answers. It's an excellent program. You can have Picture in Picture, by adding a video camera. I've found that the quality of output isn't very good if you choose WMV or AVI---perhaps I need to experiment with the settings, however---if you choos a Flash SWF/FLV output it is 'screen quality' but for very small file size. For example, a 5 minute demo with sound was 6Mb in WMV, 16Mb in AVI, but only 1.6Mb in FLV and by far the better quality for this type of work.

I used this link, downloaded and installed v3x. Nowhere is there mention of a key to unlock it, or a statement to the effect that it is a free full version -- in fact, it is a 30-day evaluation.

Luckily I use alternative software to capture screen "movies".

The version given away with PC answers was the full package, not an evaluation, but you had to register at
www.techsmith.com/camtasia/pcans.asp
