Hi DW,
could we have the "view new posts" link back please...
I'd rather not have to hunt for new posts...

Paul

When I log in the SEARCH hyperlink disappears. It is present when I'm logged out. Very wierd!

Oh yea! I do love these boards - the back-end configurations are somewhat confusing. At least it's better than the weekend, where log in remove all access!

If you don't mind the big G god collecting your data you can use this for now:

search term here site:digitalgrapevine.info

Enter in the google search box.

Mack

Many thanks for the reply Mack. I think that I will do my searches outside the login for now and login when I have something to contribute! I expect this will get fixed eventually and it doesn't really impede me using the website, but some people might be put off by this problem. It should be possible to put a message on the index.php page advising users to logout to make a search until the problem is fixed. Again, many thanks for the advice on this one.

Paul.

Yes that was my fault. I'm sorry about that.

We're looking into the search. It's there in the permissions to give all registered users access to search, and I can see it, so I don't understand why you can't. :?

Dave

Many thanks for your reply. If it's mechanical or technical it will go wrong at some point! If I discover any further information on how the problem presents or might be resolved I will let you know. For now it is a very minor problem in the mêllée of life.

Paul

Thanks, yeah having search back would be useful, plus the link to show news posts has also gone missing.

Thanks

Is anyone else having problems with this forum? Previously I would login and click "View unread posts" which would show me all the new posts since my last visit. Now, no matter how many new posts there are, I get the message "No suitable matches were found." I have to hunt through each section looking at the top posts' dates to see if I have previously seen it.

Dave Emberton -- I know you "confessed" you'd made some changes. PLEASE fix this so it works correctly. The current way is NOT working.

I was having problems with the search for a while. Searching for 'database', SQL....just common words, but it kept saying that the 'search word' was too common, then I accidently typed in something stupid and it returned 23,000 results. It's OK now..... search works again.

I agree with you Fred; at present the forum is inconvenient to use.

I don't mind the mechanics of the forum so much.

What I do care about is that for some reason the Bots and spammers are getting more invasive.

I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 and IE 6 and I don't have the search feature showing in either Browser. Since Dave updated to forum I find the site hard to navigate.

I very MUCH agree with Fred.

I've now found a whole different set of permissions I wasn't previously aware of, and hopefully you should now be able to search and view unread or new posts (which is part of search).

My apologies again. Our expertise is multimedia software, not so much php forum administration.

Dave --

THANK YOU!!!!! Once again I can log in and simply press "View unread posts" at the top of the page, and I then am shown all the NEW posts since my last visit! This is the way it was supposed to work (and did work before), so I'm delighted it's working again. Thank you.
