Hi
I've had to replace my faulty "sandybridge" PC and it's been difficult restoring
all my files.

I've got my latest Opus working and I can design and save projects. :)

However, for some strange reason it's stopped publishing.

Those twits at Microsoft added 52 updates shortly after I first booted it,
shut down the computer - as they do - and I guess they've altered something.
For example I was annoyed to find that they had removed my IE (which I'd got connected to my ISP)
and I had to reattach it to the taskbar.

I'm wondering if they've turned off some services.
I can't do a restore because it's brand new and I haven't tried to yet.

This is what happens:
I design my project, save and go to the drop-down menu to publish.
Several items are not greyed out and the ones I dared to touch worked.
When I click on publish or try CTRL return the menu disappears and
nothing else happens.

I've re-downloaded and installed. 8)

Anyone any ideas please?

Regards to all

PS to Larry - project now completed - thanks for your help.

Glad you've made it complete. Congrats.

Here are a few ideas, but I doubt these are at the root of the problem.
1. paths to files (new computer vs. old computer)
2. anti virus etc.
3. Windows Registry and Application/Program keys

on #1. When I migrated from an old XP machine (died) to a new Vista machine, I had all sorts of problems with my working files for Opus pubs (IMPs and resources). What I should have done is use Microsoft's utility for migrating. I did not do that. However, another solution that did work for me is to work from Opus BACKUP of a project/pub. i.e., use the compressed package (zip folder that Opus creates).

Suggestion: Test that out. Find any backup zip you made for your Pub, and see if you can bring that over and modify the Pub, SAVE IT, then... try to Publish.

2. self-explanatory... can get in the way

3. You said you uninstalled OpusPro and re-installed.
You can do a Search here on the forum... one of the recommendations from others here, when you have a finicky issue and cannot pinpoint it -- uninstall Opus program, reboot, and then PURGE the Windows Registry of any DW / Opus / Illuminatus registry keys. Then do a clean Opus install. (you will need to have access to your DW email that gave User ID and software registration key). ALSO ( important!! ??), install Opus using the Default path in Program Files.

Others here will have more ideas I'm sure.
Good Luck.

ps. One simple gotcha. Make sure you always Save your Pub before trying to publish it. Good time to do a Backup as well.

Well............
Thanks for all that. :D

I'd already done most of what you advised.
I'm now using a previous computer and Opus is fine.

I've had angry words with HP and PC world and presently
I've installed a USB mouse and keyboard to use the recovery
partition on the 5 day old machine.

Hrrrrmmmppphhh!

Cheers
