I came across this bit of discussion on Google's lack of platform thinking -- something brought to light by one Google engineer's "rant" (which was meant for internal reading and posted with good intentions). What is amazing is that so many people are commenting on it in the 'positive', and a few are calling the original post 'brilliant'.

So it's not very relevant to multimedia. It is mostly about the 'big players', and the SOA philosophy or SOA mandate -- openness to become a platform.
