Hi,

Valuing Opus Flex, I have been learning about a substitute for the Flash player that can run cross-platform. AIR (which I believe packages the SWF) can run on Windows, OSX/IOS and Android (can be compiled with a captive runtime, so no need to install runtime/player). Latest release of AIR SDK 3.8 http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html includes ActionScript Compiler 2.0 (ASC 2.0) so compiling for AIR is no longer dependent on the Flex SDK. But, ASC 2.0 (and AIR) can only compile ActionScript 3 (AS3).

If Opus Flex next generation used AS3, plus built an export option to compile using the AIR SDK 3.8 (plus have ability to point at newer SDK's as these are released), Opus Flex exports could be deployed cross-platform, leveraging AS3 including AIR Native Extensions (ANE) for individual platforms (for example, geolocation, encrypted local store, etc.).

"Food for thought..." to hopefully start a discussion. :)

Kind Regards,
