i am preparing a publication to be read by dyslexic individuals.
They perform better when a specific coloured backgroundis present.
on the first page of the publication, i have installed buttons to change the polygon colour to their favorite choice..
i need this colour to be transfered to all subsequent pages so the user does not have to repeat this action .
is that possible.
i attach the imp file created so far.
it also has some audio linked

You need to use some form of page trigger that retrieves the last selected value and applies this to the object when the new page loads. This can be done with actions but here's and example using scripting.

Always thought mac users were English people afraid of a little rain :-)

As you've discovered Flex has a limited command set and without looking in detail, I'm not sure that a multi-page publication doing what you want is possible.

But, there is a way using multi-frames but it's a little like pulling teeth - like most things flash. See example.

Thanks for that,
love the quote about mac users!!
if i understand right, i can do multi layer pages with the same background.
How many pages can be stacked up.
and could i do a series of chapters, linked by a menu page and each with a certain number of pages?
Flex does not support autonarate but can i think i can include mp3 files.

Not pages, frames.

You can do it using a single page only - not even chapters. That's not to say that you can't have additional pages or chapters, just that to achieve your standard background - everything would have to be on the one page. Once you change, you lose it.

I might be wrong, but I think the problem is that flex lacks the ability to specify a colour to an object such as a vector or frame. But you could simply have the same multi-frame of colours on every page and then you might be able to use a variable and IF / CASE statement to change to the correct frame on each page load.

Personally, I'd rather stick to the PC and suffer the wrath of the mac users sorry mac user! :-)
