I wonder if there is solution to the conflict Aero interface of Windows 7 with Opus version 6.4. I am testing this version on my windows 7 64 bit and very strange what happened, because in version 5.5 of Opus Pro XE the aero interface stays normal, and with Opus 6.4 the aero interface is disable.

I believe this is an issue to be addressed under Opus 7, which will hopefully be available soon.

While the Opus 7 is not enough, could launch a service pack to fix the problem. It's horrible to see the aero interface disabled because of a program. As I said before, in version 5.5 it does not. The way is to work in version 5.5!

That's exactly what DW did. Opus 6.0 originally did not disable aero but due to the vast incompatibility issues with the graphics cards under Vista, DW took the decision to disable the aero interface in the updated version.

A difficult and much contested decision, but at least our publications ran without falling foul of other unknown graphic glitches caused by that appalling marketing ploy 'vista compatible' and badly tested drivers.

As lmc stated, hopefully this will be address in W7 which has both given graphic card manufacturers the chance to mature their drivers and MS the chance to introduced an updated WDDM.

If you really must keep Aero on, try disabling DX, it works fine for most publications.

DW will fix the issues in the next release of Opus, Microsoft Vista caused a huge amount of problems for every software developer.

Adobe had issues with it too, with Windows 7 Microsoft does appear to have fixed many of the original issues with Vista. There is a reason that most organisations around the world are still using Windows XP, look at Dells website they still offer a down grade path for XP.

Well, now I understand the reason for the inconsistency. I believe the Windows 7 operating system is a much more settled and I'll be waiting for a solution, even if only in a new version of Opus. On my PC, all drivers for win 7 64 bits are working properly and speaking in graphical interfaces, to speed the game greatly improved to the point that certain games are running better than on my old win xp sp3. 64-bit programs, such as sony vegas is also running without any problem.
I wonder if beyond the problem of aero interface, we also have a solution for the creation of programs that work with widescreen resolutions and operating systems 64-bit and Windows 7. We can only wait ...

Graphics drivers. When it comes to laptop computers, I think nVidia and the other graphics components suppliers put the burden of display drivers on those OEMs. In my experience, few of the laptop makers get it right at time of shipping a new model (due to several factors incl. 'freeze dates' for the firmware and CDROMs etc.). Problem is that even if OEMs provide download of tested and updated drivers, the casual users do not make the effort to update.

Maybe, and hopefully, with Windows 7 the graphics card producers are not caught off-guard, and thus hand-over a more robust toolkit of drivers to the OEMs.
