Hi, I have an access database holding links to picture (bmp) files, these are all categorise using a numeric identifier, i.e. Celebraties are categorised as 1, groups as 2, sports as 3 etc.

I want to display up to 30 of the pictures logged in the database randomly on a page, by simply clicking a button and it populates the page, selecting the file location, file name from the access database, loading the picture from the location and entering the name into a text field underneath the displayed picture. at present the database holds around 2000 links to pictures, and I want to select as stated 30 but ensuring none of them are duplicate

Is it possible and if so can anyone help with an example, many thanks

welcome to the forum.
What is your skill level here? As you posted in the Advanced section, are you comfortable with scripting?
What Digital Workshop product/version are you using?

(It helps me, and others, to see Opus info, PC info etc... in your Profile. Take a look at other's posts/profiles for what to include)

There are many ways to accomplish work in Opus. Choosing one to start, depends on your experience... and your vision. Also, will you be distributing your publication and the database?

I've not toyed with the random ordering challenge much.

There have been some very recent posts on a similar topic ( random selecting ), and several 'old' posts which are related to random display of quiz questions, etc. If you did a bit of searching, you would get some ideas as well.

There's loads of posts on this with one as recent as a week old:

The principle is the same as the code kindly provided by Onsi. Simply create an array of numbers and use the example function to shuffle the array.
