hi

I would to know how you reset all pub variables except one specific variable in the publication,

I know there is an option reset :
-all pub variables ,
-all variables,
-all page variables

but I want to reset all var in the publication execpt one variable , this variable is present in all pages in the publication.

this variable is the user name, once the pub starts you have to type your name, then after you finish your work , all pub variables are to reset , execpt the user name , how you do it ?

I have opus 7.01

thanks

There is no "Reset all but this one..." command in OPUS. There are two ways to do what you want:

1) Create a Trigger (Button, On Show, whatever), then have an Action of Variable Set for each of your Pubs Variables you want to reset (to zero, blank, today's date, whatever). While this may involved a large number of Actions under this Trigger, it is the simplest and safest way.

2) Create a Trigger like in Step #1, then use File Management to Write the User's Name to a Temp File on your hard drive, THEN use "Reset All Variables," and then do a File Management Read of the Temp File to re-fill the User's Name.

Step #2 may seem simpler, but I would go with Step #1. I'm afraid to ask how many Variables you have created. If you are Scoring questions, then OPUS System_Variables would also have to be reset.

Great !

step n2 worked very well for me,... I was trying to do this for 6 month but with no results,....and it was so easy , it was in front of me,...
80% of my problems with opus where solved by this forum.

If this forum would solve all the other life problems ...it would be great! :D

Sherif, a possible alternative in Opus is to write the value of the required variable in disk and after values of all variables deleted, recover the value of this particular variable by reading the file this variable.
Search using the ready actions in Opus - write to disk file and read from disk file in the storage actions. It might work.
