Does anyone know if Opus flex can do something like this?

http://www.page-flip.co.uk/

I have a client interested in this effect

Thanks in advance

There appear to be quite a few flash methods,
but I would much prefer an Opus solution - if anyone knows it can be done?

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,
One possible way of creating something like a page turn effect is to use the page turn transition on two images which have a vertical blend on the image and some very clever timing on show/hide in a timeline.
Basically overlay four images (A, A1 and B, B1), A and A1 is the same image, but A1 has an 'on show' transition and blend applied ...same for B and B1, but B1 has an 'on hide' transition.

A1 and B1 each has a page turn 90deg in 4 sec (turn off exclusive) A1 on show, B1 on hide
then apply a blend, basic, vertical, 0-100% to 'A1' and apply a blend, basic, vertical 100-0% to 'B1'.

So in the timeline, you start with image A, then fade, then fade in A1 and B1 , then fade out as you fade in B......or some variation

clear as mud??? it's a bit of a kludge, but I think that with a lot of trial and error a page turn could be created which looks as if you can see the flip side of the page. It would never be as good as the flash versions, but it might be enough.....if you squint a bit and close one eye!!!
or.......If you are into programming, you could get a chunk of code to the transform

Pete,

It will probably help to think of Sandy doing the macarena as you read through his instructions.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice (and the humour) looks like a complicated solution.
Might have to dust off my flash manual...........

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks

Pete

Pete,

As for Opus, I think Sandyn's technique will get you a nice effect. Opus, on the surface, will fall short for creating the perspectives and 'wavy page' effect shown in the video. You can try adding in the available 'Page Curl' Transitions to Sandyn's method.

From what I've searched, it seems people create that effect either by resorting to low-level GPL manipulation (see link), and/or extensive use of layers plus video operating on many many fragments of a single page image. I think you could use Opus' Clones and SetLayer() command on a chopped-up image, but it will be demanding on both the programmer and later on the CPU/GPU.

If you do a goog search, you'll find 'how-to' videos for adobe apps, ...and this: http://www.nzdl.org/html/open_the_book/p186-chu.pdf (a little dated, and intense).

Cheers,
Lar
