I have created a program (lets call it A) that is supposed to delete the information in the registry for another program that I wrote (call this one B) so that the program (B) can be re-installed with a clean registry.

In the new program (A) I have created a button that is supposed to delete the registry information for program (B). I went into the registry and right clicked on the registry number and then clicked on “Copy Key Name” then inserted that into the label name for the command “Delete Data from Registry”. It is not working.

I have tried it for “current user only” and “all users”. It has no effect at all. I have tried several variations and nothing is working. I must presume that the command “Delete Data From Registry” is in the program for a reason, but I can not get it to work. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

The answer to your question is YES. I am trying to delete information in the registry. Here is the procedure I’m using.

I’ve place a button on the screen that cannot be seen. The trigger is “on show”
Below it is the command “Delete Data from Registry”.
On the right side of the screen corresponding to the command is… delete value: Label. What I have placed here is the path to the Opus Publication Data. As you know, if you right click on the long number in the registry, the(Publication ID) you get a list. One of the list items is “Copy Key Name”. That is what I’ve put into the Label. It is the path to the Publication ID. I have tried every thing I can think of to put into the label. If I can delete the Publication ID that has all the variables in it, when the program is re-installed it will re-write the Publication ID and the variables will be re-written by the program as needed just like they were when it was installed the first time.

These variables that I want to delete are under (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Digital Workshop/Opus Publication Data/(32 digit Publication ID goes here) and that is where all the variables that need to be deleted reside.

Some of these variables tell the program whether or not to play background sounds, whether the person has agreed to the disclaimer, which background to use on the screen, etc. etc.

I have already created the program, now all I need is for it to work (haha).

I think you're misunderstanding the process somewhat. The Opus actions for registry manipulation allow you to specify a label and value when when saving and a label when deleting.

This label refers to the data on the right-side pane of the Registry Editor but the actual publication key is the long string of alphanumeric characters on the left-side. This value is unique to the publication. When you clear a specific label or all publication data using an Opus action it locates the correct key for that publication - therefore, if you've created a new publication it will always be looking under the wrong key.

You can probably do it using Opus scripting instead:

Where RED is the default path to the Opus Publication Data - IE where all publication keys are stored by default.

Where BLUE is the publication key for the program that contains the data you want to delete.

Where GREEN is the label that will be deleted.

P.S If you copy the key from regedit then be sure to put the double backslashes into the string.

Really isn't overly complex.

Just replace the key (f77a68c8-3535-4eb6-853b-ce64eac7d301) in my string with the key from your registry and then replace label (TheAnswer) in my string with your label/s..


The other solution is why don't you just add the delete button to the start-up of the original publication?

Script is the way. The Opus registry actions will only allow you to set or delete things within the publication's registry key, so what you're trying will not work.
