As you are aware, we have been discussing this issue via e-mail and you are going to try out my ideas tomorrow. However, as my website also uses CPanel X, I thought I would offer some general advice for other users who may be experiencing this issue.
When you login to the root of your website (for example, ftp.mysite.com) via FTP (for example, using SmartFTP or other FTP manager), you will see something similar to the following:
As you may be aware, the folders in this location are
not accessible to users on the Internet. To actually get to the document root of your site (i.e; the folder containing your index.htm page and other web pages), you have to double-click on the
public_html folder (or the
www folder which is a mirror of public_html).
You should now see your publicly-available files, as shown below:
This is the folder to which you need to upload any Opus web publications.
Therefore, the correct settings to use in the upload wizard are as follows:
ftp.yoursite.com is the FTP address for your web site (your web host should be able to confirm this if you have problems).
yourusername is the username you use to login to the website (again, provided by your web host)
The
Password field should contain your password as given by your web host.
The
Directory field should contain
public_html (or
www).
Now click
Next and you should be prompted to select the files for upload. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the wizard and upload the files.
Once uploaded, simply launch your Internet browser and navigate to:
http://www.yoursite.com/publication.htm
where
www.yoursite.com is your domain name and
publication.htm is the name of the uploaded HTML file. The web publication should now display without problems.
