For a drawing project I want to retrieve the name of a polygon in a vector object by clicking on the polygon that's with more polygons in a vector object.

Is this possible?

Individual polygons within a vector cannot have actions assigned to them. The best way I can think of to achieve this would be to copy the relevant polygons into their own vectors (without moving them) so they look the same but are in fact separate objects. You could keep all the parts inside a frame so you can still manipulate them as a unit.

Hello Oscar,

After reading your post, I'm taking a hunch in perhaps you meant: "clicking on the vector that has the more polygons" :?: If this was the case then try adding a script action to the vector object...

<My_variable> = this.GetName()
// retrieves the object name and stores it into a variable

If you did not mean this, then ignore this message, and take Duncan's good advice! :D

Hello Steve and Duncan,

Thanks for your help so far.
Unfortunately I already have tried what you both suggested.

I hoped I could use this for polygons within a vector because I build a drawing application where you can import your own wmf-files.
In one wmf-file are a lot of polygons and I want to be able to trace them separate. So if it was possible to trace what the child number of a polygon is within a vector then it's possible to use the action on the vector to change the line and fill colors of the polygon without using separate vector objects.

Best regards,
