Does anyone know about any tutorials or sample Opus Publication to help me create a wordsearch activity. Initially I would be happy with the words being predefined in the program. I'll leave user defined wordlists until later. However, I would like to have the defined list of words appearing randomly in different places on the grid every time the game is used. Rest of grid padded with random letters.

I am not looking for published files - I need to know how to build one.

Maybe this is a tall order - but no harm in asking.

Maybe this can help you for starts - although it is not as elegant as the one you might have in mind.

First I create a grid with words using the Wordsearch Construction Kit ( you can get it at http://www.wordsearchkit.com ) -then it is exported to either WMF or PNG - whatever you prefer and whatever works best.

For each word in the grid I create a drop target box which I make invisible by setting the transparceny to 0 . Then you create draggable rectangles that fit into the drop boxes. Set the transparency to 50 % or higher so that you'll still see the grid while dragging the objects.

Set up an action for each drop area so that it can only receive the correct rectangle. In some cases, for example if you have words with the same length you will need the action to receive both possible boxes. If the answer is incorrect the draggable object goes back to the start.

You may experience problems setting up boxes and rectangles of the same length for words that are situated diagonally on the board, but a bit of practise works out well.

I hope this helps a bit -as I said , not very elegant, but it works.

Thanks for the suggestion Klaus - I'll give that a go.
