I am Using Opus Pro 5.5 on Windows XP.

I was recently asked to produce some interactive CD Roms for a client. I published them as standalone publications - creating an exe file for each.

These discs were then reproduced at a factory and distributed by my client. There have been loads of returned discs - customers saying that they make their computer crash or freeze. We have looked into this and found that the data on the discs is conflicting with various anti-virus and firewall software. (When the anti-virus / firewall software is disabled the exe file runs as normal.)

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems using Opus Pro - or if it is a known problem? I can't find anything in the Opus Pro literature or indeed on the DW website to suggest that there could be compatibility issues with exe files published in Opus Pro and anti-virus/ firewall software.

It would be good to find a way of resolving this otherwise I will have to give up on Opus Pro for future CD publications.

You may find that any exe file will cause the same problem. My understanding is that some anti-virus / firewall software allows the user to configure the protection and permissions so that no outside executable file is allowed to run on the protected system.
Can you republish your exe in flex, or perhaps have an installer install the software on the users hard drive and run it from there?
I don't think it would matter what software you used to make your publicaion. If the target computer is set up to reject any outside executable file from running, then nothing is going to run without permission.
I have the same problem in my workplace. So, if I want to check out something on a cd, it comes home for an unrestricted home check.

You can also get false positives from any AntiVirus software. I occasionally find F-prot decides, with its latest definition updates, that something I've had on my computer for ages is suspect. Once the next definition file is downloaded the warning is no longer there. I've had the same in the past from Norton.

I've not had a problem with the Opus exe files that I distribute on CD, but these are almost all used on home systems rather than corporates.
