Hi I am usinf flex to write a small PDA game, but I can't get any sounds to play. They play OK when tested using the editor, but not from the published .swf file. Any help?

Hi

I've done a number of Flex pubs for Win Mobile 5.0 PDA's and have not had any difficulty with sound playing in runtime. Having said that, I have only used .ogg sound files and wonder if using any other audio file format may be problematic, depending on the runtime PDA/computer, codecs, etc.. Why not try out a Flex pub using one of the .ogg resource files in Opus to see if that works?

Hi Stephen

Thanks for your response. I think you have pointed me in the right direction when you say Win Mobile 5.0 PDA's.

I have only tried it on early versions of Win Mobile. I guess I will have to find a friendly PDA owner:)

Hi

I have a Win Mobile 5.0 PDA and would be happy to try out a .swf published from Flex to see if it displays OK and plays the sound. I generally use a 240X320 screen for these pubs.

Hi Stephen
Just back from Easter Hols.
I enclose two files. One PDA install and an Opus flex + resources. I have tried these on Win Mobile 2003. Some sounds do work, but not if I script them. Is it a pathing issue?

I do appreciate the help you have offered.

I found the same difficulty playing the first and third sounds as you did, using the .swf on my desktop. I got no sound playback at all when the .swf was transferred by ActveSync to the PDA. The .exe installed OK on the PDA, but would not boot up, in spite of repeated tries.

When I checked the .imp, all the paths seemed OK and so did the scripts. In fairness, scripting for sound is not a skill for me. I generally use the Opus standard actions for sound.

So, I'm afraid it remains a "mystery." I'll check some more, and write if I can find anything.

In the meanwhile, others on the Forum may have some thoughts.
