Has anyone had recent experience in recoding sound and getting it to play back.

I have experimented with the Soundrec programme recommended here. It does actually record the sound but I cannot get it to play back.

The .WAV file works in my sound editing programe (Cooledit) and in the utility Sound Recorder. However Windows media player just gives an error message! I assume that Opus is accesing this software.

Can I ask a couple of questions which might seem picky, but your answers might impact on the advice you receive?

1.
Can you please confirm whether you mean recoding or recording?

2. Does your question concern recording or sound in general, speech, or music? I ask because, for example, my experience is with recording speech, so I cannot comment on the others.

Sorry my hasty typing! I meant recording which seems to work one way but no playback in Opus or Windows Media player. I am talking about a .WAV file here.
