hi,
since several year i use mpeg2 for video include in my live presentation. I have a problem with mpeg2 with my new pc (crash after some minute of inactivity) so i wonder if wmv coud be the solution for me. Has somebody experience the use of wmv in opus presentation ? Is wmv a better standard for good video than mpeg2 ? It seems to me that wmv codec is natively include in windows unlike mpeg2... so it should be best ?
(Those presentation are all play with strong pc, to have the best quality for video... i don't use mpeg1 because of the bad quality)

Thank you
benoit

I have recently finished a large publication using video in wmv format. I tested it on many systems and it has been very successful every time. I tried mpeg2 as I've used it in the past but wmv produced a smaller file with better quality. As you are probably aware, there are many variants within wmv. I tried converting my files using several different software programs and not all of them worked so testing and perseverance are essential.

In my opinion i feel that WMV is the better solution. It can be highly compressed while maintaining a good video quality, and most machines should be able to play the WMV files with no additional codecs or plug ins installed.

The issue with Mpeg2 is that it is a format that is not overly strict, there are many different "flavors" of mpeg2, some that even require specific hardware to be able to view and play. Meanwhile the variants in WMV are related to the encoding parameters not the codec itself.
