Opus: Opus Pro Latest version 9.02 Build 16458
OS: Won 10
System: Asus laptop Intel Core i5 8 gig ram, big monitor, reading glasses
My understanding is that there is a small number of issues arising when running the current Opus editor under Vista.
DW are working to fix these issues as we speak.
I would suggest that you create your Opus publications on a WinXP workstation for the time being.
Note: There are no known issues running Opus produced publications under Vista. They run very well.
Regards
Graham

I wonder if some kind soul out there could test an issue that I'm having with Vista.

Under vista my publication loses it's mouse curser. Not sure if this is a machine specific issue or Opus. The publication is called Plethos and can be downloaded from

http://www.interaktiv.co.uk/index.php?o ... &Itemid=43

Either the free or trial version will do as both have the same problem.

Many thanks

This is your first post.
It's a bit risky running an executable file from someone new to the forum.
I'm not trying to be awkward, just careful :)

From my experience so far with Vista, the computers that give problems are usually those not designed specifically for Vista, and have driver or hardware problems.

Cheers Paul,

Perhaps then, if somebody has a demo of something that they know runs under Vista, I could try that on my machine and eliminate the problem that way :-?

From what I can see with limited testing, the cursor is visible running this pub on Vista Home Premium, at least on my PC.
Would appreciate instructions on how to turn the pub off without having to 3 finger it.
Ah, the FE version closes with the escape key.

Cheers Paul,

That's most excellent news. The escape is Control Q in the demo version. Have had several people ask me the same thing this week. Nobody every reads the instructions ;-) All forty pages worth!!!! It's an application for schools and I was keeping those little fingers away from any thing resembling a close button as that seems to be their first port of call.

Thanks again,

Mack

Hi Netty,

realised reading through that most of us aren't saying what we're using and that this might help track drown the problem. So here it goes.

My cursor disappears under vista ultimate running on an HP Pavillion dv4000 with 1GB and an X700 graphics chip. Tried with both MS and ATI latest drivers - No joy.

This is dual boot system and except for OS (which is normally XP fully patched) i have no problems except under vista boot.

????????

Put the hardware and OS you use in your signature like I do -- then nobody has to guess at possible problems.
Rather than assuming a problem is an Opus issue, post a small example that demonstrates the problem and see if any of us get the same problem on different hardware.

Hi all,

Having trying the publication of both vStarter and vUltimate and found that that both cause the cursor to disappear, I've also discovered that certain cursors are vistable (excuss the pun).

The workaround is to set the publication to a custom default cursor thats been extracted from one of the windows dlls or created using your fav photo editor.

It's abit of a pain, especially as some objects seem to need to have the cursor set individually, but at least you get a cursor under windows.
