Hello,

I have just updated Opus Pro 04 from SP1 to SP3 and I'm unable to "Save As" or save new documents.

Has anyone else had this problem? Opus refuses to save documents.

Exactly the same here. Using Opus Pro 04 SR3 on Windows XP Home. It is impossible to 'Save' or 'Save As...'

This makes the program completely unusable. I need to get some work finished over the next few days. HELP!

Anyone know when DW are back in the office?

I've tried the "traditional" DW registry item deletion fix, but that doesn't rectify the problem.

I've now uninstalled and gone back to 4.21. I will wait until a properly tested version of SR3 is available. I don't really want to spend Christmas Day doing the beta testing...

I suppose this can be easily overlooked during testing.
But until it's fixed, not much point in using the service release.

Nice to hear I'm not the only one who had problems with SR3. I'll have to find SR2 and do an uninstall of SR3.

I hope DW are back soon, so this issue can be resolved.

I've just tried it, and it works fine.

What exactly happens when you can't save? And what happens if you create a new empty publication (with one page) and save that?

You are all right....opened new publication, Save as, renamed to test.imp in folder on desktop, opened folder on desktop...nothing.

But Save All works...any ideas?

I've played with it some more, and it seems it's just Save As that doesn't work. Save only doesn't work if it's a brand new publication, and that's because it actually does save as (Save All does though ). If you close the publication, or shutdown Opus it will work perfectly, and if you open an existing publication it will also save perfectly.

So the program is usable, but I've pulled SR3 anyway until we can sort this out.

I have resolved this issue and uploaded a revised version of SR3 which is now correct. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

(Please note that Digital Workshop is officially on holiday until January the 4th so support will be limited until then.)

Hi Duncan !

I downloaded your revised version a few minutes ago and tried to install but I get the following error messgage : The file Opus.exe is not a valid previous version and could not be upgraded. Then the installation stops.

I upgraded your first SR3 and everything worked great. Do I have to uninstall the faulty SR 3 - if yes , how ??

You cannot install the revised SR3 over the old version - it would make the patch larger (and is beyond the testing facilities I have on my own!)
This simplest approach is to uninstall Opus (it will not remove any of your work or settings); reinstall it from your original CD (or downloaded install) and then install the new SR3. You do not need to install any previous service releases.

Quick and competent help - as usual

"Save As" in SR3 (04.30) will not let you overwrite the current filename.

I use "Save As" most of the time, so I don't accidently overwrite a publication that I am working on. This is a good working practice when doing incremental versions or variations of a publication. Now if I decide to ovewrite the file, "Save As' won't let me, when it worked in previous versions.

That was the bug that this change was intended to fix! Overwiting a file that is currently open in the editor with another file (which was possible in the previous versions) would corrupt the overwritten file beyond recovery.
If you want to save to the same file then simply use the normal "Save", otherwise save to a new filename (appending the date gives you a series of backups in case anything should go awry).
