Hi all,

I'm getting a new error message that I've never gotten before. It says...

"Your publication was not published. To get a version wich will run outside the Opus Editor you must run the Publish Process again.

Click on Finish to return to Opus."

This happens everytime I try to publish a program. It says it before it actually does any publishing, and even though it says that you must run the Publish Process again, no matter how many times I try I get the same message. Note that it is not saying that I need to re-install the program, but rather that I publish again which does no good.

Any thoughts? Has anyone ever seen this message before?

Running the opus installer again is generally a good idea to clear up faults. I assume that this is still happening after system restarts?

Can you post or send me an IMP to check?

Mack

Hello Mack,

Yes it does still happen after a restart. It is strange that I was in the middle of changes and had been able to publish this program, but all of a sudden it would not let me anymore and was giving me that error code. It is also strange that the program will play in the editor with no problems.

I am attaching the imp with this message.

Thanks
Denn

Hi Denn,

When you publish, select the show 'show progress details while publishing' next to the Settings button.

This will display the errors causing the problem. EG mine wouldn't work because of LoadUp.jpg file.

Hope this helps,

Mack

Denn --

You want this to be a Flex Pub, right? You've set this to have a Custom Window of 530x370, yet your Chapter General says you want a DVD (720x540). This seems like major conflicts to me.

I think OPUS doesn't know what you really want. I'd strongly suggest: A) put details of which version of OPUS you are using, your computer OS, and hardware within your Signature Block in your Profile; B) make your requests for screen size/type agree.

Mack,

I always keep that turned on. I'm getting the error message (shown above) at the begining of the publication.

Is it just this publication?

If a new publication works you could try copying chapters from the old into the new until you hit a problem.

Also, may seem obvious but do you have enough disk space?

Paul

Hi Paul,

I have a little over a terabyte spread out over 3 drives, but my projects drive, which my Opus program files are located on, has about 350 gig free.

Actually I haven't even tried another publication because this one is so important. I've been working over 2 weeks on this program and have tried to get this one program to work. I suppose I will go home this afternoon and see if some other program of mine will publish. This would not be a good thing. I would rather have to re-load Opus rather than lose this particular program I've been working on.

I suppose what makes it so extremely frustrating is that the program works fine within the editor. It plays with no problems. It's only when I try to publish it that I get the error and it stops.

Hi Denn,

The problem is caused by the last item on the Timeline 1 (Go to Page <Current>)

It seems it doesn't like this - use Go to Page BUT use the specify page 1 instead.

Hope that helps,

Mack

You're absolutely right. That was the problem Mack and I thank you very much. I have run into problems like this before, where the program will let you do something that will cause problems. My thought would be to not have it available if it is going to cause a problem. However, all in all I love the program and enjoy using Opus very much.

I have published the program that I was working on, and uploaded it to my site. If you're interested to see what the fuss was about here is the link.

I wrote this book in 2002, but it is just now in the process of finally being published, and I have been trying to update my site for the book pro-mo. Turn your speakers on.

... oh yeah, thanks again Mack. I really do appreciate your help.
