hello,
I am a relatively new Opus Headstart user.
I would like to create a publication with swf output of the following scenario:

1) students would be presented with a log in screen .
2) students enter their name
3) then a phone keypad is presented
4) student punches in a sequence of numbers on the phone keypad
5) The number the student entered is displayed as the student punches in the numbers.
6) when the student hits an 'exit" button, the student name and numeric number entered by the student is recorded on a flat file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am in Win XP platform using Opus Headstart

Welcome to the DW Forum! Thanks for adding your Operating System info to your Signature Profile!!!!!
Would your question be better served if it was under "Headstart" instead of "Advanced?" This is not really an Advanced question.

You need to create a new Page for each item on your list starting with your "log in screen." Just type instructions in a Text Object, then add a Text Input Object to capture the login. You will need to create a New Variable to store the information from the Text Input Object. You can select how many characters, whether they are only alpha, only numeric, or both along with special characters. Remember a space is a special character. Set the Text Input Object to be "Auto Focused" so you will have a flashing cursor already within the Text Input Object when the Page first appears. Do you want to verify the login is correct? That will require a separate Programming section. Is the login just the student's name, and any name will work?

The next Page might have a Text Object with the login variable you just created. It might look like this "Welcome <NAME>! Now your ID number below." Insert a Button Object for each number you want on the phone keypad. You can arrange the Buttons to look like a phone keypad. You will have to create Actions for each Left Mouse Click Trigger on your buttons.

Take a look at my Attachment to see a working version. Since building this will teach you many of the elements of OPUS, I would suggest you attempt to first build this on your own. Look at my example to see how I built my Publication
