Hi, I have what must be a wierd one. - it HAS to be!

I am producing a duel screen publication.

In design mode it works PERFECTLY! - but when I publish it... I check to see if there are any errors or warnings , and there are none.

YET! when I test the published project I get a single screen only. - so I exit the test and return to the editor.

From this point on, if I try to save my work or even exit without saving...
- the moment Opus closes, I get an message saying

" the instruction at "0x1005eebc" referenced memory at "0x031baf74" the memory could not be"read" - click on ok to terminate program.

When I do this, suddenly, I loose one of my duel screens completely, and
I have to go through my monitor settings in windows to get everything sorted out again.

but what is REALLY wierd, is that I have designed a simple " test" project" to see if there was an error on MY part with the monitor settings - so I simply made 2 screens one called left and one called right.

When I published this and tested it - and ran it perfectly in test mode, and as a stand alone publication! - yet the settings for this " monitor test" AND my original project have exactly the SAME settings for monitors.

Im stumped!- any ideas?

Opus Pro 6.0 user.

Rick --

A local stereo/home theater store showed me a very impressive dual screen "estimator" to help people understand their costs to build a media room or home theater. I wanted to build something similar using OPUS. I have dual monitors on my computer, so it's been easy to build and test. It has always worked in Preview, so after reading your dilema, I Published my 10 Page, complex coded project. It's working fine, so I don't think your problem is something wrong with OPUS.

Yes, I have rarely gotten an error message about "memory" using OPUS, but it has never caused me any problems, so I have always just "chalked it up to WINDOWS."

To make sure we are on the same page, go into your Chapter Properties and let us know what you've selected. For example, on the "General" window for my Chapter 2, I have 1024x768 for Page Size, and Initial View is "Top Left." That's all. On the Window tab, I selected "Display in new Window" and I only have "Border - Resizable" selected in the left column. Under Location->Monitor I have "2" with a "Size to Fit" selected in the Size section. Is yours different? If so, try my settings.

Do you have any "On Shows?" It might be possible there's some "logic" which is not working correctly. I'd disable those to try to get this working.

G-day and many thanks for your response.

Sadly, I will be off the air for a couple of weeks while I have to work upstate.

In the meantime, I'll have a closer look at my settings and compare them with yours when I get back ( Im off away in less than an hour ).

One thing that WOULD be good to ask - and something that I am currently using IS infact an "on show " command. I use this right at the start of my project so that when the user menu fires up, the on show command tells the 2nd monitor to starts the display of the clients output.

From your experience, can using the " on-show" command in this situation ( especially when used as a trigger to start another monitor ) cause problems? - and if so, is there another command I can use instead?

I thank you in advance Fred for your help - as always, you are always there to shed a little light in a world of darkness for many of us - including me.

Regards..

Rick.

I am producing a series of programmes using the dual screen option. In addition I have converted several of my older programmes to work in this mode and have not had any difficulties apart from the vanishing cursor in Vista. This has now been sorted by the wonderful folk at DW.
