Has anyone created a nice pulsating script for polygons? A pulsating circle looks good but could it be used for any polygon/vector that is oddly shaped?

I don't want to use the set animation prefer to do it via script.

IMC,

In OpusPro, go to the Component Galleries in Organizer. Under "Basic", Drag the "Ring Pulsar" over to your Opus page.

Then when that Ring Pulsar object is selected, create a new Vector Object with the draw tools... whatever Polygon shape you choose. Now simply Delete the 'blue & black' Circle polygon that was there. You just want to have your Hexagon or whatever... be part of that Vector Object.

If you look at the actions for that 'Pulsar', you will see the OpusScript. Modify that to suit your needs.

Lar --

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

OK, I successfully drag the Ring Pulsar onto a new Page. It works fine. While it's highlighted, I use the Drawing Tool to put a red hexagon into the same Ring Pulsar. This then appears to be on top of the blue/black circle. It works fine when tested with the two together, but when I delete the original blue/black circle (leaving the Ring Pulsar still in the Organizer with my new Polygon under it) -- nothing. I've lost the effect.

What did I miss? TIA

'No', Tia is on autumn break down in Puerto Vallarta.

Boy, I don't know why that didn't work. I just 'played with it' the way I described and it worked first time. The only reason I say 'have the Pulsar selected' is so that the added polygon becomes part of that Vector. You could easily select the Page and add new Vector, then later "Insert Into" the Vector (for newbies: in Organizer, right click new polygon object and drag and release it over the RingPulsar Vector... you'll see a pop-up, so select the option to 'insert into'. All of that operation is done while in the Organizer.)

To confirm some settings... I did my test with the Pub being a full Opus Prof pub (not flex or any other option --- though I doubt that would be an issue).

I ran another test. It worked perfectly. Even by creating the 'new Polygon' on the Page first and then "Insert Into" the RingPulsar. In fact in my test, the Circle and the Star were about an inch apart --- and when 'pulsated' the effect was they pulsed away from one another. Cool. (with 20 polygons you could simulate The Big Bang !! )
Then as before I deleted the Circle Polygon, leaving the Star Polygon. Still worked fine.
Attached is image (screen clip of Organizer and Page -- BEFORE the "Insert Into").

The only minor caution I see is this: Do not delete the Circle Polygon before adding/inserting the desired new Polygon.

Do all the dragging... while over in the Organizer (does that make a difference?)

Play / Experiment: Open the RingPulsar's action (Ctrl E), and set the scales 1.45 paramter to say 2.5. Can also increase the speed with short time interval say 0.2 instead of 0.5.

am now using Opus v64

Hi Fred,

It doesn't work, because the added hexagon is not stroked by default. If you check the script, you'll see that the clone that is create has it's fill colour set to (-1) with removes the 'background' of the hexagon and without any stroking - you are basically animating an invisible object.

The reason that the solid new hexagon is animated before deleting the original circle is that the fill change is applied to the 1st child (polygon) of the vector only but the animation is applied to the actual vector affecting both polygons (circle and hexagon)

Simply add some stroking to you hexagon for the effect to work.

Mack

Thanks for help from Lar & Mack!!!!

I added the Stroke Mack described and it works as advertised. Now that it's working, it makes sense that the original shape I created had no edging (stroke). You must have stroke. It can even be the same color as the fill color.

I will be using this in the next project. Thanks again for the help. (TIA just returned from holiday!!!)
