Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry.
When you create a new variable in Opus, the variable is created as a 'Publication Variable' by default. This means that its value is persistent throughout the publication and can therefore be called, displayed and edited on any page, similar to the _root system in Macromedia Flash.
You can view the list of publication variables by clicking Publication > Publication Properties and selecting the Variables tab. Any publication variables you have created will appear at the bottom of this list.
When you create a new variable, you also have the option of making it a 'Page Variable'. Page variables are only persistent for as long as the page is displayed. As soon as you move away from the page containing a page variable, its value is forgotten and it is not possible to display or call a page variable from a different page.
You can view a list of variable which have been assigned to a particular page by right-clicking on the page in the Organiser pane, selecting Properties, then selecting the Variables tab.
I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.
Kind regards,
