I would like to create a publication that shows a directory that contains .txt files
When the user clicks on one of these files it must open the textfile.
I tried some things by using the Directory Browse option, but i can's figure out
how to show the files of the choosen directory in the publication.

Regards,

Ad

Hi Ad,

This has been posted before. Three ways:

1. Use CMD to generate a directory listing outputted to a text file which you then use with Opus.

2. Use something like AutoIT to write a third party directory listing again to produce a text file for Opus.

3. Buy our directory listing DLL (for XP+) that will allow you to read the directory contents straight into Opus.

Thanks for your reaction Mac.
What's the best option? I don't know nothing about AutoIt so that not my first choice.
How do i use CMD?
I looked at your site to find the directory listing DLL but maybe i am looking in the wrong place.

Kind regards,

Ad

Hi Ad,

I don't personally use AutoIT any more as it kept flagging as a virus.

Using CMD is easy just use the dir command and output to file like such:

Code:
C:\dir > list.txt

will create a a file called list that will contain any folders / files in the path which you can then read into Opus using standard file open actions.

Our DLL is probably better if you prefer an integrated solution or are intending producing a professional solution. It's here:

or there is a demo here:

Regards,

Mack

Hi Mack,
Maybe i am to stupid to understand it but what is a file with a .7z extension ??
How do i use the demo "filebrowser" from your site?
The price of the DLL pack is not the problem but the way to use it is my problem i think.

Kind regards,

Ad

Hi Ad,

You must have missed the explanation at the top of the page :-) *.7z is an 7 (seven) Zip file format. It's just an open source implementation of the ZIP compression program. It's just a variation of the commercial WinZip application.

I use it because it handles a wide range of formats, generally offers better compression and it's open source and worth supporting.

http://www.7-zip.org/

You can also find the portable version if you'd prefer.

Just unzip the example and run the program. It will allow you to pick a directory and it will read the contents into the list box. The version on the shop is the same but you get the source code to build your own version. If you do get it and have any questions, just use the email box on our site and I'll have a look.

Regards,

Mack
