It's a while since I did this because I usually transmit publications via the web.
However, presently I want to make a CD and I find that the CD wizard is greyed out.
I can write normal CDs with other programmes but does anyone know why it's greyed out or...............
Please can someone remind me how to make an autostart CD from Opus?
Thanks

I think you have to have Nero 5+ installed.

But you can create your own. Select the 'create autorun.ini file' on the settings menu when you publish.

Then just use your favourite burning program to copy the exe and ini file to the disc. I've never tried Windows' Built-in burner - but CDBurnerXP has always worked brilliantly and can create a whole array of disc types and images.

Seems that the instructions of Nero 5+ don't take into consideration versions as new as 11.

Either install an older Nero or build it manually. Either way, you could also email DW support and point out the problem.

Hi
Thanks for the suggestions. I had already made a disc using Windows but I wanted
to use Opus like I had before.

However, .............. a new problem.

I wish all these people would stop "improving" which often stops other things working.

My new problem is this:
I've made a programme on Opus (Windows 7) which runs fine both in the programme
and published.

It's a Karoake programme for the Cheshire Home Christmas party.

I want to run it on a laptop (XP) with a projector.

Now, the files run fine (both avi and mpg) in Windows Media Player
but only the titles, pictures, links work in the published Opus file.

When videos should be playing there's no video or audio. I've tried both mpg and
avi.

I suspect it's some kind of codec problem but I hate finding and downloading
codecs because they always come with a load of bloatware, adware and spyware
which I then have to remove.

Any ideas please?

Regards

XP default works with MPEG1 and WMV (assuming WMP is installed and up-to-date).

If it needs to be more advanced compression, MP4 will work under QuickTime (the alternative version avoids all the c**p).

Mostly it's all about the right settings and encoder:

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
I'm just puzzled...... I read the link - thanks.
If both files (avi mpg) work with the Windows player in XP
then why won't they work with the Opus file?
Presumably Opus is adding something which stops them.
Any ideas what this might be and how I can stop it, please?
Kind regards

You may wish to direct the question to DW as I'd imagine they'll be able to give a more accurate answer to the workings of Opus.

My understanding, and it may be wrong, it that a codec is required for encoding or decoding of video (and audio). Applications generally use DS Filters to interface with these codecs. But between the minefield of filters and the propriety of codecs - any application, not just Opus cannot necessary access a codec simply because it's on a system and available to another piece of software.

As our software has to reach a diverse range of users, our premise has always been either to produce the video in a format that is already available to the operating system - IE MPEG1 or WMV or in format where a viable codec is available - such as FLV (Plash Player) or MPEG4 (QuickTime). I believe, that forcing Opus to access a codec that is already on the system but not available to Opus would require building or modifying a DS Filter (assuming you have legal right to use that codec) or using a publicly available filter / codec pack - which is not something I ever recommend.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm going to try another video format and see how I get on.
Kind regards
