Hello to all,
I would like to insert videos in my app exported to android. It seems that I can insert a video reader, but I can't have actions relative to that reader (launch video, stop video, etc...)
Any experience about inserting video in android apk will be appreciated !
Have a nice day !!

Videos have to be controlled by scripts. There is a tutorial on the main Digital Workshop website on how to do this for HTML5 which I assume applies to Android web-view as well.

Also, you'll need to check out https://developer.android.com/guide/app ... rmats.html to make sure you get the encoding right.

In fact, I have an other issue. I put a video on the android app; I build the app; install it on my tablet and also on a box tv android, but I don't see the video ( For example I took the video of Nasa found on DigitalWorkshop tutorial) but a square with video symbol on it.
Any Idea ?
Best regards,

At a guess, that video is encoded for HTML5 websites not Android. The DW page points you to the same page I linked above - and you'll need to re-encode to a specification suitable for the platform you are using.

Tried it here and it ran fine on my Moto G with Jelly-bean. Here's the APK:

Thank you for the example.
I install it on my tablet (android 4.4.2 kitkat ), but I only have a black rectangle instead of video.

I try on an other tablet, with android 4.0.3 Icecream sandwich, same problem. I don't have Jelly bean, and can't update the 4.0.3 to jelly bean...

Is the black rectangle the only problem or does the video not play using the play button?

Don't know. We focus on HTML5 rather than Android for this very reason. Our KK and ICS devices are not in the office at the moment - so cannot check them but it does work on our Fire HDX which I think is either 4.2 or 4.4.

Here' a different APK based on H.263 instead.

I do appreciate your help !

I try the new apk, but here is what it happen : the video player is visible, showing video lenght of 1:40
When I plush the play button, the 1:40 became 0:00, and no visible video...

I also set the standard HTML5 video controls to show. Do these do the same thing as the Opus play button?

Okay, first I realised that I meant Lollipop for the Moto G OS not Jellybean.

But also I got hold off the rest of the devices and all the APKs work on the following:

Moto G with Lollipop
Moto G with KitKat
Fire HDX with KitKat

I don't have a Jellybean device any more but I ran an APK with 264 / 263 & VP8 on an ICS device and none of them worked. I think from some of the other posts, ICS is probably not officially supported regardless of whether it would actually support video or not. That leaves KitKat and as the APKs work on both our KK devices - it seems that it should be working on yours.

I think what would be useful is if anybody else following this thread with an Android device checks the APKs and we can then build up a better picture of what works. I know DW have asked for feedback regarding other issues relating to local storage and web data, but I don't think we have a list of confirmed devices / OSs...?
