Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes the video loads immediately and
sometimes I get the whirling circle then a hang.
I shut off Malwarebytes which gave me more memory.
I'm using the same video to try to do this.
Any ideas please?
I've reinstalled to no effect.

Check the video type at the bottom of the video tab. The different types affect performance.

Additionally, check your encoding of the video file - you may need a lower bit rate or less advance codec.

Thanks for the comments. I'm quite puzzled by the situation.
I've prepared a presentation which works fine on my desktop.
I don't have a webcam attached so I've transferred to a laptop.

Opus occasionally refuses to allow me to access the loaded video
which works - such as amending transitions.

On other occasions sometimes I can load and other times I can't.
The same video which has loaded before.

If I take the presentation back to the desktop I have no difficulty.

There seems to be something interfering on the laptop and
I can't determine what it is especially as it's intermittent.

I'v e disconnected from the Internet and turned off virus protection.
Malware bytes was using a lot of memory but I'm notified that
only 56% of memory is in use. It's an i3 processor with 8Gbs

The videos only last for up to 3 minutes so I don't think they are
in any way too big - and only two of them.

I've had to convert audio to ogg files because there was an occasional
problem withh mp3 too. I guess it's a laptop fault.

If I have a problem I revert to my desktop.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled so I've more or less given up now and
used the desktop to design. It's virtually finished but I'm anxious
if I've made an error (as we do) I might not be able to edit without
going back to the desktop in my upstairs studio.

Thanks again for the advice.... my desktop is Windows 7 and the
laptop is Windows 10. I don't want to reinstall Windows 10.
Otherwise I can't find a programme running which is interfering.
It might be a Windows 10 problem.

Kind regards.
