Hi

I'm looking for a way to be able to play an audio file on a specific speaker on a 5.1 surround system
ie. sound1.wav on the rear right speaker, sound2.wav on the front left speaker.
I was hoping that the channel selector on the Play Sound action would maybe do that but it seems not.
The user needs to be able to direct the audio the whatever speaker they want to use.
Any one got any ideas?

The least difficult way would be to create each sound file for each of the channels. EG you would have soundA-left.wav and soundA-right.wav for stereo.

Thanks Mack

I was hoping to avoid doing that due to size of the files but guess it might be the only way
When I convert a wav file to 5.1 (leaving 5 channels silent) it becomes 6 times the size, and I'll need 6 of them to cover the 6 possible channels.
So what was a 10mb mono wav file becomes 360mb of files...and I'll need 32 of them to do what I want = 11Gb...hmmmm

I'll keep on fiddelling :)

If I was building this in Saola, I would place a single file on the timeline with all the channels and then play the time-line from the appropriate place.

I don't recall this being possible in Opus but if you created a single 5.1 file with the same sound at different positions, you may be able to use the start and end function on the play sound file action.

As for the file size, I believe Opus supports WMA which supports 5.1 and should be much smaller than Wave.
