I want to create a help page that can be activated and deactivated easily in each page of the publication. Users could refer to this when seeking instructions. I would be grateful for your help. Anybody please urgent :?

des,

I would create a page with the help information and then create a button with a link to that particular page. If you don't want to use a visible link like a button you could use a KeyPress on each page to activate the link to the help page and then put a Back button on the help page to return to the page the user came from.

Leo --

You have it reversed. You ONLY use "Previous" when you want to return from a Page to the originating Page. Backward takes you from the Page you are on to the Page just before it.

Example: You start on Page 3 and do a GoTo Page 99 for help. If you have a Previous Button, then it will return you to Page 3. A Backward Button would take you to Page 98.

Hope that helps explain the difference

Fred,

Correct! des needs to use "previous" page action not "backwards."

Minus 1 for me. ('')Embarassed

When I create help files I use a separate chapter and open it in a new window at about 50% size of the main. You can then control the opening position of the help page, can resize/drag it and you can have both open at once. I hate switching between a help file and the main page. I have the memory of a slug, I have forgotten what the help said by the time I've switched back.
....and that's for help files I created myself!!!! :-)

How do you get help pages to open in a new window at 50% of the size. I am new to this so I need a good bit of guidance,
Thanks
Des

I have created a list page with a description of each page. The problem is that when i set the actions for one page to go to that page all the other pages go to that page number also. In other words if I set a particular page to go to page 5 for example, all the other pages go to page 5 also. Is there anything I can do about this. I would appreciate some advice and help

I think I understand what you mean-------so in your design, the master page idea will not work, because it it simply a page which sits in the background and it has the same effect on every page.

A simple way round this is to take the master page, but turn of the 'master page' option and duplicate the page. You end up with many identical copies of the same page, but you can then go in and set the destination of individual buttons....or whatever you use to navigate.

You could still use the master page option with scripting. For example, if you used buttons for navigation, on each button you could have a simple script to check which page you are currently on, then determine the destination.

As always with Opus, there are many options of how it can be done.

Sandy
