In the past I have had no probs linking a database, now using vista, access 2007 and I get nothing, I can link excel but not access.

I am also compiling a Hungarian to english phrase book, I want to use a database or excel link but I want the ability to listen to the phrases in english, that has been displayed from the data source by means of having a button on screen, can any one tell me how this static button on screen can update and change wav file corresponding to the data source

Tic,

Welcome to the forum and opus play.

Basically there is the setting up of DB connection under Windows, then in Opus there are two "places" you need to check your work. One is verify correct path and filenames, syntax in your opus scripts (or your triggers and actions for DB operations). The second in Opus is under Publication Properties >>> Database >>> then setting the proper connection and username and password. ( Hint: do a search on this Forum... for database. You'll find some people solved a DB issue by entering a user and Pw, and then removing it here.)

One thing I've noticed in Vista... is that an Administrator will set up a System type connection. But if you use a File Connection (is that right terminology?), it may work only for the user that set it up.

You did not provide much information to go on (ODBC connection or other?, how you are testing and/or developing on two different systems?, what else might have changed?, what Opus product and version you are using, what info about your system), so I'll leave it there.

Good luck.

Perhaps things have changed, but in the old days we used to get better and more responses by posting DB issues in the Advanced Forum :?

If ticmic posts a little bit more information, like Lar_123 said, it would be easier for us to determine the cause of his problem.

Is he using ODBC drivers for the database connection? Or which method is het using.

An important notice with Vista is that there are 2 different ODBC Data source managers. A 64bit and a 32bit version. This means, when installing 32bit drivers on a 64bit system, you will not find them using the standard ODBC manager, bacause it will only show the 64bit drivers.

If you run odbcad32.exe, you will find the 32bit odbc manager, and the 32bit ODBC drivers. This was a problem i experienced with MySQL 32bit, end my Vista 64bit OS.
