I'll be making a looping promotional slideshow to run on a 20" LCD screen in a foyer.
I can't really test the screen until the promo goes live. The instruction manual for the screen says it can use up to 1024 x 768 px, but recommends 640x480 for optimal picture quality. This can't be right for a PC to VGA input surely?
The monitor has a range of other inputs eg s-video, composite etc - perhaps those are better on 640x480 but my opuse exe from a pc would be best on 1024x768?

What kind of LCD is it ? Widescreen or 3/4 aspect ration?

I notice that in the specs of a lot of large format widescreens it states that the native resolution of those screens is 1024 * 768, while it actually is 1360 * 768 or 1366 * 768. Which of course also makes a lot more sence.

Most 3/4 LCD screens with a size of 17" and higher offer a native resolution of 1280 * 1024.

But 20" sounds like a format for a widescreen, and the smaller widescreen LCD's use different resolutions.

Isn't it possible to create a presention for the correct aspect ratio, and then let opus scale it to the correct resolution. Indeed not the best image quality, but quite usable.

The best you can do is to connect the LCD screen to your computer, go to the monitor setting and there you see the resolution of the connected monitors.

Thanks for the replies.
Now they tell me it will be plasma screen, vertical (portrait) format, but they don't know what size...
