An elementary problem...

A simple 'go to page<name>' action on a button works in preview but in the Published version just gives a blank page (just a few pages into the presentation) with my usual background graphic and all I can do is esc out..

As an 'workaround' I tried adding a 'go to next page' action to each master page set for key click SPACE to see just how many times this problem occurs however this doesn't work (I don't have the Master 'on top' clicked)

Any help appreciated.

Jamie

If you've properly assigned the use of Master Page ( Page Prop. >>> checkbox ), and if you don't have any Frames that cover other objects... it is hard to imagine those basic actions don't work in pubbed Pub.

One thing you can try is to browse through some of the Sample Pubs that come with Opus. Choose one of those, modify it with basic Button and Goto-page action. Save as. Then publish that and test it. Assuming that works, it might be something in your specific pub construction -- hard to say though with info given.

Thanks for the feedback I believe I am using the Master pages correctly....some more info on this...

Presentation was originally developed on XP/Pro using Opus Pro, it then was converted by Opus Pro 4 and still worked fine....last week it was again converted by Opus Pro 6.4 this time on Vista.....now I get the problem, so I guess there might have been some technique / action used originally which is causing the problem.

Is it acceptable to upload mini .imp files or part of published presentation for assistance/help requests?

Yes. Okay to post example of the problem. Keep it basic as DW places a limit on upload MBytes. Also simple is better to focus on the problem

I had some problem migrating work-in-progress pubs over to Vista. For one thing my Vista user name is different. But all that may not be problem.

One thing to try is this. If you still have the XP machine setup, run a Zipped backup of the pub (unpublished) --- from within Opus. Then transport that over to your Vista PC. I think you then unzip it and open with Opus v64. Do a 'Save As...' to some other directory path and consolidate your resources. From reading other Posts... Opus 5.5 pubs seem to carry forward to v6.0 and v6.4 quite well. Don't know how far back you can go and reclaim Opus pub versions.

Thanks for the feedback...I don't have (but at a pinch could have) Opus on the XP machine...are you suggesting the Opus 4.5 version the presentation was created with?

I was naively hoping some other expert users might pipe up with some help too however alas not so far.

So for now I have sent a mini version to DW support........I'll feed back any news when it arrives.

Jamie,

Such problems are hard for others to replicate. Perhaps if you post the mini example on the forum, then somebody might be able to advise you better.

Mack

Mack et al,

My apologies for not getting back sooner. DW Support could not see anything 'obviously wrong' with the pub at all...

However due to the fact that this pub started life in the original Opus Pro (pretty soon after the Illuminatus name was dropped), and had been imported into Opus Pro 4.5 and now recently into Opus Pro 6.4, and on Vista now instead of XP Pro, DW Support recommended I take a good close look at the pages in transition which threw up the blank page with just my background....

With show all hidden selected and zoomed in, I found atrfacts on the 3 pages out of a total of 260+ which were stopping the pub stone dead at run time but not in review mode.

These artefacts were two pages with occurences of a path and one page with an arrow vector which had been reduced to miniscule dots which had obviously not been (or no longer were) a meaningful part of the pub.

On removal of these 3 specks.....it all worked a treat.

Many thanks for the contributions. I didn't post the mini pub here as I had already sent it to DW Support, and that didn't seem fair.

The reason for not getting back here conveying the solution, is I have been spending all hours making up all the lost time and just shipped.

Thanks again

Jamie
