hi All

Is this possible in Opus pro 4

I have been using Poser (now Poser 5) since it's inception and now I was thinking it would be a great if the end user could manipulate i.e rotate a 3d image in Opus, and that would be a model of a dog. Different areas of the animal could then be incorporated in a quiz.

I also use 3dMax v5.

Looking forward to some feedback

Ted

Hi Ted
You could convert/render the model into a QTVR file and insert that QTVR in a docview frame.
From memory Opus 4 doesnt support QTVR directly but via docview it should provided the end user has quick time loaded. But other than rotation and zoom you would not be able to interact with hotspots.

The new (Opus pro6 and I think 5) has the facility to utilize hotspots that you would incorporate during the qtvr production.

Hope this helps

Regards

Pete

I don't think this is quite what you want to do, but you might be interested...
it's a flex slideshow with buttons spread across the page to show a series of images...

(don't wate your time on the rest of the site

Thanks guys
I'm a bit loath now to use this idea in the final production as it would entail the user having to have QuickTime installed.

I will play around with your suggestions and see what happens here.
That revolving head sure looks interesting though

Ted

The revolving head needs 16-20 still photographs - it could also have been 20 printscreens from a 3d object being rotated on the monitor and saved as bmps for a slideshow...

Okay I'm back onto this 3d model manipulation.

In poser I have created a model revolving lateraly 180 degrees.
I have then created a series of 12 frames giving me each image rotated at 15 deg.

Is there now any way that I can get these image to be rotated by the end user to appear as if they are rotating the object using mouse actions?

Do you care if the transition is not smooth?

You could simply have a row of 12 thumbnail images and one viewing frame. When the User mouses-over a thumbnail, a specific frame within a MultiFrame is viewed. Simple.

Thanks Lar I'll give that a go
At the moment I'm using a prog called modelweaver to create a QTVR file. Trouble is the video is not dispaying in opus until I render it.
It works fine otherwise.
Another layers seem to get hidden by the video from no matter what order i have them.

I think I've worked out what is to be done.
I've created 12 images in a multi frame.
Made a little colored graphic bar to the bottom of the image
Created 12 hotspots on the bar.
Mouse over hotspot go to the next image.

Works like a treat
Thanks everyone who has offered help.

You also can use the slideshow in Opus.
There is a big advantage.
You can create a play button.
You can set the time each image should be shown.
The slideshow wil run until you give a command to stop.
You also can let the animation run forward and backward.

Yes. Thanks for the tip Oscar.
What I needed though was an interactive mouse rotation(to simulate a 3d object).
I now have 30 images in a multi frame with 30 hotspots overlaying the frame. Each hotspot has a 'mouse over' to show the next frame. So when I move the mouse over the image, it rotates with the mouse movements.

Good you have it working.

Here's another idea to complement your scheme. Use Opus's Rotate (or better, 'Spin') actions to INDICATE the angle being viewed. That is, have an arrow pointing at the direction. Easy to do.... like a clock-face. Just a little Y-skew for perspective. Keyed off of the same hotspots.
