I haven't used Opus for some time, and have gone rusty.

Some time back, I had an Opus publication which enabled other programs to be installed (from the DVD) if required.

I now have the same requirement again ... all is going well. But I cannot remember - or see - what 'Action' to use when the 'Install' button is clicked.

For information, the programs to be installed are all 'Freeware'.

I can't believe I wrote a script for it last time - unfortunately the saves for that publication have long gone ... (that won't happen again!)

Thanks for any pointers...

Hi Mike,

I think you want the launch >> launch file, but I can't remember if it's available in 5.5.

Thanks Mack.

This is very frustrating - the 5.5 Manual states the same - but I am not seeing the Launch action on the Mouse-click trigger. Perhaps it requires a different action for that particular trigger to appear. (?)

The stupid thing is, I know I had it working in an earlier publication - also done with version 5.5 of Opus.

Do you by any chance have the publication type set to flex?

Mack

No - well, I don't think so.

I've just dug out my old PC from the loft and fired that up - that had the Opus 5.5 I built the other stuff with. Luckily I found the workfile for the publication where I used 'launch' - and the 'Action' list indeed includes Launch - which currently I am not seeing on the publication I'm now working on.

So, I have obviously set something incorrectly and as a result I am not seeing quite a few of the Action options. I shall re-explore - you have given me a clue. I'm sure I set the option for Opus 5.5 pubications, but will now check. Thanks for the info on this - it is helping.

Well either something is seriously amiss, or the type is wrong.

Publication (menu) > Publication Properties > Type (tab)

Bless you Mack - that did it!

Because I was going to save the publication to a DVD, I selected that as the type: I can see now I misinterpreted what 'DVD' meant - which as an amateur film maker burning film DVDs with menus all the time, I should have realised meant a playable DVD. Interesting though, because I gather, therefore, that 5.5 can create playabe 'TV' DVDs - with a menu - using imported AVI files. That'll be an interesting thing to try out on my next 'chaptered' movie edit. Hmmm. Much more to this program than I realised!

Many thanks indeed for the pointer - now back on track again.

I wonder now if V6 is worth the £100+ upgrade ... I like the look of some of the additional features, but don't use it for much - at least i haven't done lately. Maybe time to dust off the cobwebs ...

Your help has been truly appreciated.
