Hello

In my publication I set the button theme as "Modern Smooth". But when drawing a new button this theme is only set for the Normal stage. To get the "Modern Smooth" for other stages (Mouse Over etc.) I have to do that manually for each button.

What am I missing?

Jónas

Jonas,

I do not know a direct answer, am just another User. I don't remember exactly how that master setting works. Can look at it next week.

Meanwhile, if you need a 'workaround' try this.
* create one Button which you will use as your 'model' or 'template' button.
-- 'yes', for now, you will have to set Button Properties (color, style, texture, etc.) for each state.
-- when you have finished setting those specific and individual states, be sure to click on Normal state before completing the task and leaving the properties dialog.
* so while in Opus workspace, simply Copy that 'model button' to the Gallery... probably store it in a gallery folder such as 'My Custom Objects' (you create/name it)

Now whenever you need a button, Drag it from the Gallery rather than using the objects/toolbar. (BTW, in Opus v6 and later... I think you can also set that toolbar carry one or two of your Custom objects (that you have stored in a Gallery) )

The Default Theme for OPUS Buttons is Modern Smooth, unless you've gone into "Tools -> Options -> Defaults -> More Defaults" and changed to Traditional or Modern XP.

When I create a Button, all States automatically have a Theme of Modern Smooth. I can go to each State and click "Modify Color" which allows me to change that State's Theme, otherwise you'll note the Theme is grayed out (which means it's using the "Normal" State's Theme).

I think you are getting confused because you see "Traditional" grayed out for "Mouse Over" and "Button Down." Again, the Traditonal Theme is NOT actually being used, it is only being shown as an alternative to the Modern Smooth Default.

We want OPUS to have this kind of flexibility -- in case you have some need to make the Theme change when you do a mouse over, etc. I believe most designers will use a single consistent Theme throughout their Publications. Otherwise, it would be like having multiple Fonts on a Page, which generally is NOT recommend.

Does that help?
